- Bill Carlson
- (Oil Paint Artist)
Born William
John Carlson, Saint Paul March 19th 1950
As a young child, ages five or six,
he was requesting art supplies such as “Paint-by-numbers” for Christmas and
birthdays. During High School he became very involved in art and painting
classes. Through out the years, the study of art increased his interest and
talents. Bill was drafted by the Army at age nineteen. Even during time of war,
he continued drawing even while overseas in Vietnam. His tour concluded in
December two years later.
Bill enrolled in Art and sign classes
at Technical Vocational Institute where he studied for three years. He opened a
Sign shop in 1985, starting from the basement in his home and eventually opening
a shop near his hometown on Rice Street in Saint Paul named “Bill’s art & sign”.
Making time for his passion, running his business and spending time with his
family was a career in itself, which he did for fifteen years.
For the last five years, Bill’s
interests have grown to include oil on canvas. Focusing especially on wildlife,
landscapes and portraits. He also enjoys photography. He finds taking photos is
a wonderful way to relieve stress. Using celebrity photos and/or family and pet
pictures and painting them on canvas. He plans to continue his love for art by
exploring new avenues and broadening his horizons.
